The brand and website we built earlier in 2026 for tensile fabric specialists Base Structures has picked up three awards since they went live earlier this year.
You can see the whole project in our Base Structures case study, or have a look at the live site itself.

Base Structures designs, engineers, and rigs tensile fabric structures — canopies, facades, enclosures, and one-off installations — often in iconic places. Lord's Cricket Ground, the Science Museum, RAID Museum Denmark, and alongside practices like Zaha Hadid Architects.
Matt Powell, Founder & Creative Director, Mud“I’m really proud of this project. And it’s fantastic for the client and our team to get the recognition they deserve for it. Working on a brand alongside the website is always our favourite kind of project, as everything can cascade from a single idea. I think you can feel that in the Base website.
“Of course, it’s always easier to work with an ambitious and impressive brand like Base Structures. Winning three awards is the cherry on top.”
Initially, our discussions centred on a new website build using the existing brand. But it soon became clear that the brand needed to come with what Base had planned, so that’s where we started.
A Trio of Awards
Web Excellence Award Winner. The Web Excellence Awards are a global programme covering web design and digital creativity. Entries are marked on innovation, usability, content and user experience, visual design, and technical quality and performance. Base won in the Architecture category.
Silver at the Creativepool Annual. This one works a bit differently. Winners are featured in the Creativepool Annual, which is sent out to agencies and brand leaders around the world. Judging is split between a panel of industry judges and a People's Choice vote open to the wider Creativepool community. Base took Silver in the Web category.
Silver at the annual w3 Awards. The W3 Awards are judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, an invitation-only body made up of senior people from the likes of Wired, Disney and Condé Nast. Entries are scored against a fixed standard rather than against each other. Base took silver in the General Websites-Architecture & Design category.
About the Base Structures Project
Jacob Little, Marketing & PR Consultant, Base Structures“Mud brought an understanding from the outset that this project was more than just building a new website. The team responded to the brief with proactive, strategic ideas that balanced creativity with the need to evolve our positioning in a way that felt authentic to the business.
“There was a real sense of friendly collaboration throughout — ideas flowed naturally, and the whole process felt open, constructive, and enjoyable.”
The brand idea we landed on for Base Structures was 'tension builds'. It emerged from the defining forces at play in tensile fabric engineering: the tension in the rigging itself, the balance between creative ideas and technical precision, and the moments of suspense as a large-scale structure is finally realised.

That gave us a visual metaphor to ground the new identity in, and a way into graphic elements and motion devices that emulate the push-pull dynamics unique to Base's work.
You can feel that push-pull throughout the digital experience, with linear elements that warp, stretch, and bounce in response to scrolling.
Underneath it, a Craft CMS platform gives the team the space and flexibility to tell the stories of their most iconic projects — along with an archive of 150+ past projects, hidden from end users but there for the sales team when they're pitching.
